Thankful

A few of the things for which I am thankful:

My blaze organge "Elmer Fudd" cap with fuzzy ear flaps.

Camping with Kate.

The village that raised me.

Free two-day shipping.

Trees

A rewarding job where I get to work with some cool people and do things that sometimes makes a difference.

Twitter friends.

KEXP Song of the Day.

Neighbors.

Pileated woodpeckers.

Pick-up trucks.

North Carolina's State Parks system.

Craigslist.

Pups.

My sister's phenomenal kids, who are a reflection of the love they received in such abundance from their parents.

Strawberries.

My mother's compassion and creativity.

The warmth of a fire.

Farmers.

My father's wisdom.

Hugs.

The Hightower kitchen and all the people sitting around the table

The soul sustaining sustenance that graces the aforementioned table.

The amazing woman who serves it.

Friends that I only see once in a blue moon or with whom I only keep in touch through Facebook, but whom I love dearly nonetheless and whose love blesses me profoundly (and I hope they know it because I'm really hesitant to send them all a private message saying "I love you").

A beautiful young woman who said yes to dinner and a movie (Good Morning Vietnam!) almost 28 years ago and who has been my cheerleader, travelling companion, hiking partner and co-crafter of an amazing life ever since.
